The Dick Meighan Memorial Run and The Extra Mile Scholarship are in memory of Dick Meighan, a beloved father, neighbor, coach and friend.
The Dick Meighan Memorial Run has established an annual Scholarship program.
We offer a $1500 grant for a graduating high school senior who is matriculating
to a full-time post-secondary education institution. This will be the 5th year
we have offered this scholarship.
To be eligible for this scholarship the student must complete the written application. A scholarship committee shall select the best-qualified applicant based upon a written
application, scholastic academic record and participation in community and/or school activities.
Application and related materials will be accepted from November 22, 2007 until
May 1, 2008. The Scholarship will be awarded in June of 2008 at Upper Saddle
River Borough Hall. To be eligible for this scholarship the student must reside
in the communities that serve the Northern Highlands Regional High School District
(Upper Saddle River, Saddle River, Allendale or Ho-Ho-Kus), Ramsey High School,
Mahwah High School, or Waldwick High School and complete the written application.
The decision of the Scholarship Committee is final.
The Extra Mile Scholarship was created to celebrate the 5th Anniversary of The
Dick Meighan Memorial Run. The scholarship acknowledges the outstanding efforts
of graduating High School seniors who have made a difference in our community
and gone the extra mile with community service participation along with academic
achievements and extra-curricular activities.
